Freshdesign.dk portfolio is here finally

1 Comment | This entry was posted on Feb 02 2010

Hi everyone. I haven’t written anything here for some time- I had to finish my studies (I am MSc now finally, yupi!) and tidy up my portfolio.

And now it’s here- freshdesign.dk has finally got a fresh and clean look. It looks just as I wanted it to look like. Navigation is clear (but at the same time quite catchy). I’ve made it as a one page folio with smooth movements across the page elements. The galleries for each of the project are made with Lightbox.

And this is how it looks like (but you actually have to go and see for yourself how it works):

Portfolio was updated. I have added some new works which I created in 2009 (and 2008):

WINDTURBINERACER
Website (2008) for DTU:
WindTurbineRacer.com - website of a project

SOLIDARNOSC.DK

Fajne Chlopaki – Cool Boys from Poland

0 Comments | This entry was posted on May 15 2009

Would you like to see some fresh-looking graphics and retro at the same time? Here you go- Fajne Chlopaki is a design collective from my home city Lodz in Poland. They have amused me with graphic design of two websites: lodz2016.com and fabrykasztuki.org. That is how I got to know them- the name “Fajne Chlopaki” meaning something like “Cool Boys” is a catchy and easy-to-remember name for the design studio.

Fajne Chlopaki are very active in designing promotional materials for various design organisations and events in Lodz. Good example is the Lodz design festival- below are some of the works they created for this occasion.

Very nice works, Fajne Chlopaki! I’m proud of my city when I see all the promotional works you’ve been doing: lodz2016.com, fabrykasztuki.org, Lodz design festival. Big up!

Rodrigo Bellao- interface designer and illustrator

1 Comment | This entry was posted on Apr 11 2009

Rodrigo Bellao is an interface designer and illustrator living in Curitiba in Brazil. I like his illustrative skills as well as his ability to create clean and very pleasant website layouts. By the way, I haven’t written too much about web design recently- maybe I will post more about it soon- stay tuned.

Marek Mielnicki – tasty web design

3 Comments | This entry was posted on Mar 06 2009

I have met Marek once in Bieszczady’s mountains (btw it’s a very beautiful place to go for summer holidays). I was a young (younger than now) kid those days. He gave me his business card with web address mielnickidesign.com. After a few years by chance I have stumbled upon his website again and got excited about the amount of interesting projects Marek was involved with since our meeting. I am sure that Marek does not remember me and I also don’t remember him much. It’s the coincidence I’ve found his website after those few years and that’s why I’ve decided to promote his works on my blog. Obviously, those are the works that are really worth checking out.

Marek is in both illustration and web/Flash design. He was involved in some projects like shirtee.com or tiszert.com both as a web designer and designer of t-shirts. I think that he is the founder of shirtee but I might be wrong about it. It’s sad but it looks like both of those T-shirt projects either have died out or are put on hold.

Tiszert.com- Mielnicki designed website of this T-shirt shop

What I definitely like most about works of Marek are the Flash websites. It’s about the combination of minimalism and care for details. I know that such a sentence sounds strange (minimalism and details- o rly?) but that’s how it is and how I can describe it. My English is not perfect and sometimes I am getting to the point where it’s really hard for me to say the thing precisely and exactly- I am sorry about that. Anyway, take a look at those two websites below (click on the link or on the image to visit the site).

If you got interested by what I presented in this post take a look at Mielnicki’s portfolio- you will find more of it there.

North Kingdom- Swedish interactive design company (northkingdom.com)

0 Comments | This entry was posted on Dec 26 2008

North Kingdom is a design company specialising in interactive projects (Flash games, websites, presentations etc). Their works were many times awarded by FWA (Favourite Websites Award)- that’s really prestigious and I wish I could receive such an award one day… I won’t just keep dreaming, I will work on my skills and creativity to make this dream come true in future. OK, enough bullshit :), let’s keep going with the topic.

The first project that I would like to present in this post is a Mentos Kiss Fight (click this link to play)- game created for BBH London/Mentos. North Kingdom was responsible for design, development of the game, logistics and filming. Game is simple and easy- you have to fight against girls- instead of weapons, kicks or hits you have simply to kiss her and make sure she will not kiss you too often. Simple, a little dumb- but it is made neatly and it was worth spending a few minutes on it (not more ;)).

On Toyota’s mind is a beautifully designed interactive presentation of various Toyota’s inventions and ideas implemented in their cars.

The last project I wanted to present here is the game “Get The Glass” (FWA site of the month and Gold at Cannes Lions 2007). The game is simply perfect- the animations, 3D modelling, music, even the game play. Everything in it is first class and it was really pleasant to try and play it- check it out yourself!
