Freshdesign.dk portfolio is here finally

Hi everyone. I haven’t written anything here for some time- I had to finish my studies (I am MSc now finally, yupi!) and tidy up my portfolio.

And now it’s here- freshdesign.dk has finally got a fresh and clean look. It looks just as I wanted it to look like. Navigation is clear (but at the same time quite catchy). I’ve made it as a one page folio with smooth movements across the page elements. The galleries for each of the project are made with Lightbox.

And this is how it looks like (but you actually have to go and see for yourself how it works):

SOLIDARNOSC.DK
Graphical layout of a website about Polish solidarity movement, Solidarnosc.dk. It was supposed to look rough and work as a reminder of the communistic repressions and Polish history.

2nd concept (not used):

MSC PROJECT
Screenshots of mobile user interfaces that I created while working on my MSc thesis project, “Tag-based mobile music interaction”. Project involved looking at a mobile interfaces from a perspective of usability and interaction design.

BØRN I KRIG- CHILDREN OF WAR
Project created for The Polish Embassy in Copenhagen. I designed, layouted and produced exhibition of 20 posters and 16-page brochure filled with pictures made by Polish children who survived wartime.

Euro 2012 Poland and Ukraine official logo

UEFA has just presented a new logo of Euro 2012 (European championship in football) which will be held in Poland and Ukraine. There are some controversies which are discussed in Poland right now:
-Polish flag’s colors are not red and white (they are white and red instead)
-Some say it’s too Eastern-Europe-like and not very fancy

Personally I have to admit that I am not really sure what to think about it. The flourishing football with the flags as leaves gives good associations and should work well as a symbol. But on the other hand- hmm, it looks as a big-headed guy with widespread arms or sth. And it’s really kind of old-fashioned, maintaining the stereotype of backward Poland and Ukraine..

A Friend Of Mine Design Studio (AFOM) is a small, Melbourne based design practice which works with a range of clients small and large. Much care and thought is put into every project. AFOM has experience in brand identity, art direction, signage, shop fitting, interiors, posters, image creation, publication (most things design related), and has a strong passion for crafted and bespoke typography.

Ginger Monkey (Tom Lane) is a graphic designer and illustrator living and working in UK.

Tom Lane is passionate about what he does- this is what he says about his work:

I live and breath design and Illustration. It’s more than simply a job to me and each new client can take my creativity into new areas. Ultimately this can lead my life down new paths, to new challenges and a greater understanding of myself and my ability. I find thinking about the future very exciting.

UNIT is the collective and collaborative work of UK designers Si Billam and James Sanderson. We work globally across music, fashion, lifestyle and youth culture. Together we craft, construct, experiment and play with ideas.

UNIT (We are, This is) work on various fields of graphic design. They have created quite huge amount of music CD covers. Their typography skills are the thing that caught my attention.

Si and James have worked for clients including: EA Games, MTV, Coca Cola, Human Studio, Universal Everything, Pollinate Records, Carbon Logic Publishing, Computer Arts, Urban Splash.

Paul Sych- Faith is spiritualized imagination

“Faith is spiritualized imagination” – portfolio of Paul Sych is a trip around various typographic forms and creations. I have looked through all of his works presented on his website: some of them are brilliant; the others may be just good. Nevertheless, you can clearly see that this man has got talent in expressing emotions and information in typographical, simplistic forms.

For over 2 decades, Paul Sych has been exploring and practicing many of the parallels between art and music. After completing his studies from both York University’s prestigious Jazz Program and from the Ontario College Of Art & Design, Paul founded his multi-disciplinary design studio Faith, in 1989. Paul has consistently offered new methods of expression by using custom typography as a catalyst within his work and has challenged both clients and peers alike to enter his world of unique and flamboyant use of type and imagery. In addition to being commissioned by legendary designers, art directors, educators and forums on typography internationally, his work has been widely exhibited and published globally. Paul continues to explore visual and typographic works in print, branding, public art, motion graphics and broadcast design. Recently, Paul has focused his interests in teaching, lecturing, conducting workshops and personal critiques to both students and colleagues alike in a effort to begin a new dialogue on typography and design methods.

Fajne Chlopaki – Cool Boys from Poland

Would you like to see some fresh-looking graphics and retro at the same time? Here you go- Fajne Chlopaki is a design collective from my home city Lodz in Poland. They have amused me with graphic design of two websites: lodz2016.com and fabrykasztuki.org. That is how I got to know them- the name “Fajne Chlopaki” meaning something like “Cool Boys” is a catchy and easy-to-remember name for the design studio.

Fajne Chlopaki are very active in designing promotional materials for various design organisations and events in Lodz. Good example is the Lodz design festival- below are some of the works they created for this occasion.
