Illustrations by Alex Varanese

Alex Varanese’s works have got all what this kind of illustrations should have: well-thought color palletes, extensive use of textures, shades and those small details that add the flavour to it. Add to it excellent graphical composition, scent of retro and industrial/urban items which often are the main topics of the works- electric circuits, music cassettes, roads, buildings. Boring, grey and everyday things that you see on the street acquire a new fresh look and make you say “wow”. I am impressed by his talent.

Alex is available for commisioning and freelance projects.

Freshdesign.dk portfolio is here finally

1 Comment | This entry was posted on Feb 02 2010

Hi everyone. I haven’t written anything here for some time- I had to finish my studies (I am MSc now finally, yupi!) and tidy up my portfolio.

And now it’s here- freshdesign.dk has finally got a fresh and clean look. It looks just as I wanted it to look like. Navigation is clear (but at the same time quite catchy). I’ve made it as a one page folio with smooth movements across the page elements. The galleries for each of the project are made with Lightbox.

And this is how it looks like (but you actually have to go and see for yourself how it works):

Portfolio was updated. I have added some new works which I created in 2009 (and 2008):

SOLIDARNOSC.DK
Graphical layout of a website about Polish solidarity movement, Solidarnosc.dk. It was supposed to look rough and work as a reminder of the communistic repressions and Polish history.

A-Side Studio- Graphic Design and Illustration Studio

Cited from A-Side Studio:
We do ID’s, tees, books, magazines, murals, posters, surfboards, skateboards, all the while freely jumping the divides between image and product, design and art, the flat page and the moving image. (…)
Complexity with simplicity, decoration with purpose; good design will always end in us understanding one another better.
