Matthew Lyons is a 21-year-old student of an illustration and animation course from England. For a such a young lad his style is mature and remarkable. His works have got incredibly well organized structure and composition. Matthew is very careful about the colours and colour pallete reminds of me of retro posters and graphics and is just making my eyes happy.

Kumi Yamashita and her shadow art

1 Comment | This entry was posted on Apr 26 2010

Kumi Yamashita redefines the way of artistic expression. She proves that art material can be anything. Is it possible to create art with e.g. a shadow? Kumi proves that it’s not only possible. In fact her works are so expressive and lively that I may say that she really gave life to something which does not even exist. Wikipedia says that “a shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object.” Kumi uses this “material” to create interesting and memorable pieces of art.

Is it the question mark or an exclamation mark? Pure genius!

Blastyle moved to Wordpress

0 Comments | This entry was posted on Apr 13 2010

Hello again after a longer break.

I’m in the middle of moving my whole blog to Wordpress. I made it because of Blogger’s decision about stopping support for blogs published via FTP. Well, at first I was angry at them because I was afraid to lose all my posts and stuff.

But now I see that there are plenty of advantages that my blog would gain after moving to Wordpress. Wordpress is really cool and I’m thinking now why for so long I have been reluctant for the change. I guess that’s just some kind of natural resistance to change, persistent lack of time.

I need to admit I neglected my precious blog for such a long time. No new posts, no updates. I’m planning to change the things a little bit so that my performance and blogging satisfaction is improved. I would like to add some fresh air to my blog- I’ve decided that sticking to just presenting designers and their works is very, VERY limiting. I shouldn’t be limited by anything. From now on I will write about anything which is (but doesn’t have to be) related to the topics which are interesting for me- design, interaction, media, maybe music? We’ll see.

Welcome back and enjoy the new Wordpress look – I have tweaked a little bit the Portfolio Press template so that it resembles the old Blastyle look. During the next weeks I will make sure that all the small details (links, images etc.) are correct.
